JUVENTAS

The young in your bones,

Tells you to take your time.

Whilst the age in your mind,

Tells you you’re behind.

As all the pain gathers in the heart

It’s dispersed in pellets of power.

Words are stronger than fists,

But ears are deafened to truths.

Eager to learn life,

Society surrounds you.

Your innocence dilutes,

In hopes to get grown.

A battle with your body,

At war with your mind.

Slaves to society unconsciously,

Mind controlled subconsciously.

Curing generations with conscious,

But you’re met with caution.

You see a life that’s not living,

Confidence about conforming

Sex about being a symbol

Greed being glorified,

Validation being vital,

Suicide so decorated,

Life so idle,

You understand,

You cannot be woke for the world,

Whilst you sleep on your selves.

As society tries to blind your eyes

You decolonise your mind,

Trace over your scars with a loving touch.

It doesn’t seem to hurt so much ,

When you’re being true to you.

Learning a language of liberation,

To build bridges that won’t burn,

To cross to an area that is yours to claim.

To leave a land where you had to clean up,

A mess you never made.
